We have arrived in Guiyang...the capital city of Guizhou. As I type I can hear horns honking, cars, trucks ....and birds tweeting! This city is home to 3 million people. We are certainly in the minority here as we and the other two families are the only Americans we have seen. We are getting used to the stares and curiosity of people as they pass us on the streets or as we wobble down the center aisle of the airplanes...we smile say hello or Ni Hao and pass on by so grateful to be here among a people we have become so fascinated with. My Mom had such a delightful flight from Beijing to Guiyang as she crossed the language barrier with a young 21 year old. Ahnna, Abigail and I were mesmerized to just watch as kindness, respect and friendliness trumped the inability to communicate verbally...just ask her how many words and phrases she taught this young man. I have thought a lot today about these precious people God is putting in our paths....Summer our guide in Beijing, Yang Fu Cheng, the young man Mom spoke with and the young student, Chen Guang Hua Randy visited with....all so friendly and kind...and yet some unaware of the gospel of Christ. Please pray the Lord continues to put us right where He would have us to be and with the people He desires us to meet.
Well....we are about 45 minutes from meeting our new guide Michael in our hotel lobby. We then leave to go to the Civil Affairs Office to meet the girls. We will become a "family" with the other two families and their adopted daughters this journey...it is a precious time of bonding and commonality among us as we watch these precious little girls learn to trust....love....bond. These next few hours will be filled with so many emotions...for us and especially for Mia. We are ready...we are ready to become a family of six...we pray now that all preparations we have made will culminate in peace, acceptance, calmness and love for Mia. Here we come precious little one...your Mommy, Daddy, sisters, Grandmommy and Granddaddy are ready to welcome you into your "forever" family.
Next post....Gotcha Day photos!!!!!
All ready for Mia
Ready to be played with
