I think we are finally adjusting to China time. Yesterday we all kinda felt like zombies, but after a good night's sleep...all 6 of us feel like we are returning to normal. (our new normal) Yesterday brought many smiles and giggles from Mia. We are starting to learn about her personality. She can be very serious and has eyes that penetrate that drives us to wonder just what she's thinking. We have also seen a strong spirit of independence. Seems like she acts so much older than her young age. It is evident that she has played hard and can throw a "wham" pretty easily. She responds well to our direction and seems so interested in everything around her. Our day was spent mostly in our rooms relaxing and adjusting to how our family is changing. Last night brought new waves of grieving as she laid in my mom's arms whimpering and crying for "mama." Those moments are very hard because all we can do is just say it's okay and love her through it. We are encouraged by her progress even though it's slow and pray that today we will walk forward even more. Thank you for your continued thoughts and prayers, we could not be here without your thoughts and whispers to our Father. Today brings a day of touring, first in the "Monkey Park." Not quite sure what to think about this adventure since there are monkeys roaming around freely. :0) I'm afraid we could call ourselves party poopers when it comes to celebrating New Year's Eve, we just couldn't do it, so so tired. Enjoy your celebrations and we are excited about joining with you all in this new year as we walk forward in the steps God ordains.

Have fun at the monkey park! It is crazy but fun. And the temple at the top is amazing. So happy to see your Mia in your arms!
ReplyDeleteOh in case you don't remember I am Monica Cribb's friend; I got my Mia from Guiahou in Sept.
ReplyDeleteThis may be a crazy request but so badly I wanted one of the embroidery decorated baby carrier and we were told they were for sale "everywhere" but never found them. If by any chance you see them I'd pay you for your trouble to get one for me. I wanted embroidery from Guizhou so badly and didn't see it and loved the baby carriers. There was nothing like it in Guangzhou either. Hope Im not being to bold in asking. I don't want you to go to any trouble, just if you happen to see them. :-)
Hi Kelly...I know exactly what you're talking about but haven't seen them anywhere as we have been out. We are here for two more days so I'll keep my eyes open. We are taking baby steps forward with Mia and some backwards as well. She has had a better day today....seems to really be attaching to my older daughters....not so fast with me...I remember to remember that I am replacing her mother figure and that rejection is normal. Each day we spend a little more time together without tears...just slow going. We are ready to leave here...so dark...dismal and dreary!! Hopefully Guangzhou will stay warm.
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet, thank you! I'm sorry Mia is having struggles. I know it is hard with foster kids and the older the tougher. Our Mia Jade was in an orphanage but with few kids so she was petty attached to her main nanny. She had nothing to so with my mom while in China and she wanted to go with any Chinese housekeeper in the hotel. She did much better once in GZ. Guiyang is pretty rough. Be careful...I was pickpocketed..had $200-300 stolen mid day in one of the passes that go underground. I hope you get out of the city. The surrounding area is very pretty. I'll keep you and Mia in my prayers! It hurts to see the one we love in pain and especially without having the language to explain and comfort. French fries and pizza seemed to help our Mia! LOL. There is a Pizza Hut there near the hotels! It was yummy!
